Lifestyle Lefse Apron 1

In the same way you can go to the store and buy lefse, injera, tortillas, sandbakkels, krumkake, and countless other traditional foods, I was tempted to say, “Hey ChatGPT, what are we about here at Bethany Housewares?”. Then, I realized that would go against just about everything we are about.

We’re about keeping traditions alive. We’re about putting in the work, the rolling, the mixing, the cooking, the imperfect first (and sometimes second) attempt. We offer the tools and resources to let all of that happen. That is how we help those that want to carry on traditions.

We’re about bringing families together around the table. Pulling out recipes that are generations old. Teaching a child how to make something their grandparents once made. Sharing stories about the people who can’t be there anymore but would be proud to see their traditions still being carried on.

It isn’t just the finished product. It’s the time spent together. It’s the familiar smell coming from the kitchen. It’s the old recipe card with handwriting from someone who you can only find in the memories you shared from years past and the stories you share with the ones you love. Bethany Housewares has been part of those moments for more than 50 years.

We know that the world is changing. There are faster ways to do almost everything. You can buy food already made, order dinner from your phone, and let technology do the work for you. But we believe some things are worth doing the old-fashioned way. Not because it’s the easiest way but because the process itself is a lot of the tradition.

So, we’ll continue making the tools that help you do the work. Tools that help you recreate the foods you grew up with, introduce them to the next generation, and maybe even start a few new traditions along the way.

That is what we’re about at Bethany Housewares. Thanks for supporting our small, family-owned business. We hope to be a part of your family traditions for years to come.
